The BlackBerry Smartphone from the Canadian company RIM (Research In Motion) has been available in a different series of models since 1999. From the early Pager models and Monochrome Java-based models like the 850, 857, and 950 to the first color and SureType phone models like the 7100, 7200, 7500 and 7700 series.

Around 2006-2008 we started seeing more modernised models such as the BlackBerry 8000-8800-8830, BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry Pearl Flip and BlackBerry Curve 8300 series. I am sure some of you have owned one of these.

And over the past few years we have seen even more modernised BlackBerry smartphones. Think BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 and 9550 in 2009. Future BlackBerry smartphones expected are the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and BlackBerry Curve 8980 and BlackBerry Storm 3.

We have seen RIM produce some truly awesome smartphones over the years. And if the above is anything to go by we can expect to see even more awe inspiring products like these from them over the next decade through 2010-2020. RIM currently dominate a 15% share of worldwide smartphone sales which makes them the 5th most popular manufacturer after Nokia, Samsung, LG, and Apple and the iPhone. Smartphone Wars!

When asked to compare, most BlackBerry users will defend their BlackBerry and say that it’s better. At the end of the day though it all depends on user preference and what you are looking for in a smartphone. Most people will naturally say this about their mobile phone once they have got used to it. Some people get to experience many types of smartphones such as the BlackBerry, Apple, HTC, Google, LG, Nokia or Samsung range of smartphones. And get to make up their mind which one they prefered the most. However, most normal people don’t have thisopportunity and must go by what they are being told about each specific unit or how it is advertised on tv, radio or in store etc.

The most recent new smartphone from RIM is the BlackBerry Torch 9800 which is their first and unique Smartphone that has a 3.2″ multi-touch input method touch-screen display and combined slider keyboard.
